If you are referred via Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), Work Cover, CTP or have an Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC), you do require a referral from your Doctor, and it is important you bring this to your initial consultation. We will regularly liaise with your Doctor throughout the management plan and believe this level of communication is essential for optimal patient management.
What time do I need to arrive for my initial treatment?
Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your initial appointment time to complete a personal details form. We aim to run on time for all appointments.
What should I bring to the initial assessment?
Kindly bring your Doctor’s referral (should you have one) and any X-rays or scans related to your condition.
What do I wear?
Try to wear appropriate clothing. You should be able to move freely and the clothing should allow visual inspection and easy “hands on” access to the area being treated. A clean hospital gown will be provided when necessary for each patient to ensure modesty.
What happens at a physiotherapy appointment with a Physio?
You will be asked a number of questions related to how the problem began, symptoms, general well-being, previous injuries and medical conditions. A physical examination will then be conducted that aims to determine the cause of your problems. Once your physiotherapist has collected enough information about your presenting problem, they will discuss with you the likely cause and work with you to determine a safe, effective and collaborative management plan.
